We cut these sweatpants with a wide, bowed leg that tapers slightly before the ankle. The fleece has enough substance to hold the curved shape while staying soft inside. A wide smocked band sits high on the waist, secured by a flat drawstring so the trousers stay up without binding.

• Barrel leg cut. The curve starts below the hip, widens through the knee, and pulls back in toward the hem. This shape keeps the fleece off your shins and lets the fabric drape with clean structure.
• Smocked waistband. We gathered the top into a broad elastic band with a tonal drawstring run through the center. It settles high on the natural waist and holds firm without pinching.
