We cut these loose through the thigh and bowed at the calf before tapering back toward the ankle. The linen blend keeps its texture through the heat, while the lake blue tone takes on a soft wash with wear. A wide waistband stays put with an elastic channel and a flat drawstring.

• Bowed barrel leg. The leg panels curve outward through the calf and pull back slightly at the hem. This gives the fabric room to drape away from the leg without dragging on the ground when you walk.
• Elastic drawcord waist. We built the waistband with a broad interior elastic band that sits flat against the skin. A front drawstring lets you tighten or loosen the rise depending on where you prefer the pants to sit.
