We cut this pair from lightweight corduroy with soft vertical ribs that hold structure without feeling stiff. The high waistband pairs an elastic core with a front drawstring so the waist stays put when you sit. Room runs broad through the thigh and calf before angling inward at the ankle.

• Curved barrel leg. The outer seams curve outward from the hip and bow wide across the calf. The shape tapers back in at the hem so the extra volume does not drag on the floor.
• Elastic drawstring waist. We built the high rise with a gathered elastic band and an adjustable pull cord. It sits flat against the waist, moves when you bend, and avoids any tight pinch.
• Lightweight black corduroy. The black ribbed fabric holds enough body to support the wide leg shape while staying flexible and soft. It adds texture and light warmth for cooler weather.
