We cut these palazzo trousers from a medium-weight corduroy that holds warmth for cold months. The wide smocked waist sits high and pulls on without hardware. Down the leg, the wales give the loose cut enough heft to drop straight to the shoes. Deep side pockets sit along the seam line.

• Smocked high waistband. We gathered the top with wide elastic smocking that expands easily and sits flat against the waist. It pulls on without zips or buttons and keeps the high rise anchored through a full day of movement.
• Wide palazzo cut. The legs fall straight and wide from the hip down to a clean hem. The ribbed texture gives the fabric enough body to hold its rectangular shape instead of clinging to the leg as you walk.
• Camel ribbed corduroy. We chose a classic camel shade on a soft, textured cord. The raised wales trap air for warmth in autumn and winter while the fabric stays pliable and soft to the touch after repeated wear.
