This design pairs the outer drape of a skirt with the utility of an inner short. We gathered the linen at the waistband so the legs flare wide and let air move through. The aqua blue wash gives the plain weave a clear, clean finish for warm weather.

• Gathered elastic waist. A broad elastic band anchors the top without hardware. It pulls on quickly and settles at the natural waist, gathering the linen evenly so the outer drape falls loose around the hips.
• Split skirt leg. The cut uses wide leg openings that overlap to create the profile of an A-line skirt. You get full stride room and the practical coverage of shorts underneath.
• Aqua blue linen. We chose a midweight linen weave in a soft aqua blue. The fabric softens with each wash, holding enough substance to maintain the flare along the hem without clinging.
