We cut these palazzo trousers from medium-weight corduroy that holds heat during colder weather. The high rise settles firmly with a front zip and button fly, dropping into a wide leg that falls straight from the hip. Subtle contrast embroidery trims the pockets for a clean finish.

• Corduroy cloth. The ribbed cotton corduroy provides a dense hand that breaks the wind while holding its shape. It softens with repeated washing and gives the wide leg enough weight to drop cleanly without bunching.
• High waist construction. The high rise sits above the hips, secured by a traditional zip fly and button fastening. This keeps the waist stable without relying on gathered elastic, giving a smooth front under sweaters and tuck-in shirts.
• Wide leg drape. We gave the legs a wide palazzo cut that stays loose around the thighs and calves. The hem falls broad over boots or flat shoes, giving plenty of room through the lower leg during cold-weather movement.
• Care and maintenance. Wash on a cold cycle with similar dark colours to preserve the black dye and the ribbed nap. Line dry or tumble dry on low, and use a cool iron on the reverse side if the ridges need flattening.
