These trousers start with ribbed corduroy dyed a muted army green. We built them with a structured high rise, a clean button-and-zip fly, and contrast decorative trim along the seams. The wide legs drop straight from the hips to catch winter drafts before they reach you.

• Corduroy cloth. The ribbed cotton corduroy has enough body to keep its shape through the leg. It traps warmth in cold air and softens with regular wash cycles without losing its pile.
• High rise and fly. A fitted high waistband anchors the top with a standard front zipper and button. It holds firm at the natural waist while leaving the seat loose and easy.
• Straight wide leg. The leg runs wide from the upper thigh down to the hem. That open volume moves easily over ankle boots or low shoes and does not bind when you sit.
• Cold water wash. Wash on a cold cycle with similar dark colours to preserve the army green tone. Hang them up to dry or run on low heat, then warm iron on the reverse side.
