We cut these wide-leg flares from ribbed corduroy to hold warmth when temperatures drop. The waist pulls on with a gathered elastic band that sits high and stays put. Down at the ankle, the hem finishes in a gathered ruffle that adds weight to the flare.

• Ribbed corduroy cloth. The corduroy ribs trap air to hold warmth through cool mornings. It has enough body to keep the palazzo leg wide instead of collapsing inward, yet softens with regular wear.
