We cut these trousers from midweight corduroy in solid black, giving the ribbed cloth plenty of room through the hips before tapering down to the ankles. An elastic waistband with a matching drawstring keeps the top block secure without pinching. You get deep side pockets and utility storage along the outer seams.

• Corduroy cloth. The vertical wales trap warmth for cool mornings while keeping a soft, broken-in hand. We dyed this run in deep black, so the ridges catch light across the folds without showing surface dust easily.
• Tapered harem cut. The volume sits low through the seat and thighs. It falls wide from the hips, then pulls inward at the lower leg so the hems stay clear of your shoes without bunching.
• Drawstring elastic waist. An elastic core runs through the waistband to anchor the trousers on the hips. We threaded a flat fabric drawstring through the front casing so you can adjust the tension as needed.
• Utility pockets. We stitched deep pockets into the side seams alongside utility cargo pockets placed flat against the outer legs. The seams are reinforced to hold a heavy phone without dragging the shape.
