We cut these Bermuda shorts with room through the thigh and a straight fall that stops just above the knee. The dark gray jersey holds enough stretch for movement without losing its shape on the couch or along a walking path. An elastic casing and flat cord keep the waist anchored where you set it.

• Elastic waist and tie. We build the waistband with a wide inner elastic that lies flat against the skin. An adjustable drawstring threads through the front casing so you can cinch the fit tight for walking or leave it slack for lounging.
