We cut these Bermuda shorts long enough to hit right around the knee, using a flexible cotton jersey knit dyed solid black. The waistband pulls up high with a wide elastic core and an adjustable drawcord. It is an easy, unlined build meant for daily walking and light workouts.

• High elastic waistband. The band sits flat across the midsection with a wide encased elastic channel. An external cord lets you tie the waist as snug as you need it before heading out.
• Knee length cut. We kept the inseam long and the leg straight. The hem settles near the knee so the fabric stays down through squats, stretches, and long strides.
• Three deep pockets. Two slanted pockets sit open at the side hips to hold a phone securely. We also added a patch pocket at the back for small flat items.
• Washing and care. Machine wash cold with similar dark colors to maintain the deep black shade. Tumble dry on low heat and remove promptly so the knit retains its soft hand.
