We built these sweatpants with a generous barrel leg that curves away from the hip and settles back at the cuff. The heathered fleece has good weight for cooler mornings. A contrast plaid tie wraps the elastic waist to anchor the top block.

• Curved barrel leg. The leg panels bow outward through the knee, then draw in slightly near the hem. This shape keeps the hem off the ground without clamping the calf.
• Elastic waist and tie. A wide encased elastic band sits high on the waist. We added an integrated plaid tie across the front so you can knot it loose or secure the fit.
• Sweatshirt fleece fabric. We chose a medium-weight fleece in Flower Gray with a smooth outer face and a soft loop back. The knit holds the bowed silhouette without collapsing flat.
• Side pockets and care. Deep side pockets sit along the seam line to carry keys or a phone. Machine wash cold with like colors, then tumble dry low or hang on a line.
