A barrel cut gives these sweatpants room through the thigh before tapering slightly toward the ankle. We lined the heavy cotton blend with brushed fleece to trap warmth during colder months. The dark gray knit hangs straight from a wide elastic waistband.

• Brushed fleece interior. The inside is brushed into a soft fleece backing that traps warm air against the skin. It adds substantial weight to the knit so the legs hold their bowed shape rather than clinging.
• Curved barrel leg. We cut the legs wide through the calf and thigh, then shaped the outer seams to curve gently back in near the hem. The cut stays loose all the way down.
• Elastic waistband. A wide elastic channel sits flat at the waist without drawstrings to knot. It pulls on easily and stays anchored through daily wear without binding.
• Deep side pockets. Two inset pockets sit along the side seams, cut deep enough to hold a phone and keys securely. We stitched the pocket bags flat inside to reduce bulk.
