We cut these loose trousers from a soft, ribbed black corduroy that holds warmth when the weather turns cold. The high rise sits on an elastic waist with an adjustable drawstring, while the legs fall wide and full down to a plain hem. Two deep pockets sit right in the side seams.

• Elastic waistband cut. The waistband pairs enclosed elastic with a flat front drawstring. It settles high on the waist without binding, so the wide cut stays put while you move through your day.
• Wide leg shape. We gave the legs a wide, slouchy profile that drops straight from the hip down to the hem. The cut gives heavy knits and winter boots plenty of space underneath.
• Ribbed black corduroy. The black fabric has a soft, velvety corduroy pile with fine vertical ribs. It holds its own weight well, falls without clinging, and adds steady warmth in cooler air.
• Pockets and wash care. Two deep pockets are set into the side seams to carry small items without pulling on the hips. Wash in cold water on a gentle cycle and tumble dry on low.
