We cut these barrel trousers from lightweight corduroy with a distinct fine rib. The high rise settles on an elastic band with an exterior drawstring, while the side seams bow out through the knee and calf before narrowing at the hem. In peach pink, the pile catches the light across the curves of the cut.

• Barrel leg shape. The side seams curve outward past the knee to give the calf room, then taper back toward the ankle. This creates a rounded silhouette that holds its form without dragging.
