We cut these sweatpants wide through the leg for a loose palazzo drape. The cotton blend fabric holds enough weight to fall straight from the hip down to the hem. We added exposed contrast stitching across the panels and set deep patch pockets onto the front.

• Wide palazzo leg. The leg runs straight and wide from the upper thigh down to the open hem. This shape allows air to move freely and keeps the fabric from clinging around the calves or ankles.
• Waistband and drawstring. We built the waist with an elastic core and threaded a flat drawstring through the channel. You can knot it tight or leave it loose, while the band stays flat across the middle.
• Exposed contrast seams. Panel seams run down the legs with visible contrast stitching. The raised needlework gives the light gray blue knit clear structure and breaks up the wide surface of the cloth.
• Deep patch pockets. We topstitched oversized patch pockets directly onto the front hips. They sit flat when empty and stay deep enough to hold a phone without pulling down the waistband.
