We cut these culottes wide enough through the leg to hang like a full skirt. The cropped hem keeps the fabric off the ground, while the elastic waistband uses a self-fabric tie to adjust the fit. In rust red, the linen blend softens with wear.

• Wide culotte cut. The leg opens broad from the hip down, giving the garment the volume and movement of a split skirt while keeping the utility of a pant. The cropped length lets air move freely around the calves.
• Elastic waist and tie. We built the top with an elastic casing that pulls on easily. A matching drawstring lets you cinch the waist where you want it to rest, whether high on the ribs or lower down.
