We cut these shorts wide through the thigh so air moves freely on warm days. The waistband gathers soft elastic beneath an adjustable drawstring cord, anchored at a high rise that stays put. It is a simple black linen weave that softens with every wash.

• Elastic drawstring waist. We gathered the waistband over wide elastic and threaded it with a self-fabric drawstring. You tie it once to set the tension, while the stretch accommodates daily movement without binding.
