We built these trousers around a rounded barrel leg that curves outward at the calf and tapers gently toward the ankle. The lightweight linen blend has a crisp check weave that softens with each wash. A full elastic waistband sits high on the waist so the fabric hangs clear of the hips.

• Barrel leg shape. The pattern bows out through the thigh and knee before drawing back in at the hem. This creates volume through the middle of the leg without dragging excess cloth around your shoes.
• Elastic high waistband. We gathered the top edge on a wide elastic band that stays flat against the waist. It pulls on without fasteners and keeps the high rise anchored through a full day of movement.
• Gingham linen weave. The black and white plaid is woven from a light linen blend that allows air to move freely through the yarn. The cloth holds its checkered structure while gaining a softer hand over time.
• Pockets and care. Deep side pockets sit along the outer seams to hold small items without pulling the waist down. Wash on a gentle cycle in cool water and hang dry to preserve the weave.
