We cut these trousers wide through the hip and leg in a soft, ribbed black corduroy that traps heat through cold weather. The high rise settles on a gathered elastic waistband, and the wide hems turn up to show a woven plaid lining. Front pleats give the drape extra room without pulling across the seat.

• Ribbed corduroy cloth. The black corduroy has a soft, raised wale that holds warmth when the temperature drops. It carries enough weight to let the wide legs hang straight without clinging or twisting as you walk.
• Plaid turned cuff. We lined the wide bottom hems with a contrasting plaid fabric. Turn the cuff up to show the pattern, or wear it down to let the full black length fall over boots.
