We cut these wide-leg pants from medium-weight corduroy for cooler mornings. The high rise settles on an elastic band with a workable drawcord, while the legs bow out slightly through the thigh and finish loose at the hem. The dot print breaks up the wale of the cloth across the whole leg.

• Waistband and drawcord. We set the elastic band high on the waist and ran a flat cord through the channel. You pull it snug or leave it loose. It stays flat under heavy knit sweaters without pinching.
• Barrel leg volume. The leg widens from the hip, curves out past the knee, and drops straight to a broad hem. The corduroy ribs give the wide shape enough body to hold its barrel line instead of collapsing inward.
• Turmeric dot print. Dark coffee polka dots sit across a deep turmeric ground. Printing over the corduroy ridges creates small breaks in the pattern that soften the contrast as the fabric moves and folds during the day.
• Side pockets and care. Two deep pockets sit along the side seams, set back far enough to keep hands warm without pulling the front flat. Wash in cold water, skip the bleach, and dry flat in the shade to keep the ribs soft.
