We cut these from ribbed black corduroy with enough weight to hold an outward curve through the mid-calf. The waistband pulls on with elastic and ties flat with an inner cord. Panel seams run down the front to set the rounded shape before tapering slightly at the bottom hem.

• Barrel leg shape. The pattern bows wide through the knee and tucks back toward the ankle. Panel seams give the heavy corduroy structure so the leg holds its silhouette while walking instead of falling straight down.
• Elastic drawstring waistband. We gathered the top with a wide elastic casing that stays flat against the skin. An adjustable drawstring lets you tighten the rise without bunching the fabric awkwardly across the hips.
