We cut these everyday trousers from medium-weight corduroy with a soft ribbed hand. The high waist pairs an elastic band with a clean button closure, feeding into a wide barrel leg that bows outward through the knee before tapering at the cropped ankle. Deep patch pockets sit flat on the front hips.

• Barrel leg cut. The leg widens through the thigh, bows out at the knee, and pulls back in toward the ankle. Structured seams keep the curved shape clean rather than baggy, leaving plenty of room through the calf.
• Elastic high waist. An elastic waistband sits high on the natural waist and fastens with a single button. It stretches when you sit down and holds its position without gathering too much bulk across the front.
• Oversized patch pockets. We topstitched wide patch pockets across the front hips. They sit deep enough for daily carry, sewn flat against the corduroy so they do not interrupt the outward curve of the leg.
• Magenta corduroy care. Wash cold by hand or on a gentle machine cycle to protect the ribbed nap of the fabric. Lay flat in the shade to dry. Skip the bleach to keep the deep magenta dye even.
