We cut these loose trousers from a soft ribbed corduroy that holds heat during colder weather. The high rise settles comfortably on the natural waist with an elastic band and a flat drawstring. Wide through the thigh and calf, the barrel cut falls straight to a clean lower hem.

• Corduroy rib weave. The textured wale gives the fabric substance and body so the wide leg holds its loose shape without collapsing. It traps warmth in cold air and softens with repeated laundering.
• Elastic drawstring waistband. We gathered the top edge over a broad elastic band that stays flat against the waist. A matching cord pulls through the front to secure the fit when the pockets are full.
• Barrel leg shape. The pattern gives generous room through the seat and drops wide down through the leg. It gives you space to walk and sit without the cloth pulling tight across the knee.
