We cut these culottes with a full, skirt-like sweep that falls away from the hip and ends below the knee. The linen blend is lightweight and soft, letting warm air pass straight through the open legs. Contrast lace borders each bottom hem to give the cropped cut some weight.

Lace trimmed hem. A band of contrast lace finishes each wide leg opening. The trim weights the lower hem slightly, so the leg hangs straight instead of catching around the calf as you walk.
Drawstring waistband. We gathered the top onto a wide elastic channel and ran an adjustable cord through the middle. You can cinch it high or drop the rise lower on the hip without the waist pinching.
Side pockets. Two slash pockets sit flat into the side seams below the gathers. They run deep enough to carry small belongings without pulling the front drape out of line.
Washing and care. Wash in cold water on a gentle cycle or by hand, then line dry in the shade. Steam iron while the linen blend is still slightly damp to relax the weave.
