We cut these culottes short and wide through the leg so the linen hangs loose like a skirt. The high waist pulls in with a soft drawstring, keeping the fit easy around the hips. Along the bottom edge, a band of contrast lace weights the hem and catches the air when you walk.

• Wide cropped leg. The leg opens wide from the hip down to mid-calf, giving the fabric room to drape away from the skin. It moves easily in warm weather without clinging or catching at the knee.
