We cut these culottes wide through the leg so they fall with the sweep of a skirt while keeping the utility of pants. The linen and rayon weave is light and soft straight off the bolt. A gathered waistband stays put with an elastic core and an external drawstring.

• Wide culotte leg. The leg opens broad from the hip and finishes around the knee. That width lets air move freely on hot days and gives the hem a relaxed drape as you walk.
• Drawstring elastic waist. We built the waistband with a wide band of interior elastic and added an adjustable drawstring through the front. It sits high and holds without binding when you sit.
• Linen and rayon weave. Blending rayon with linen softens the dry hand of raw flax without losing the slubbed texture. The fabric vents warmth and relaxes further after a gentle wash.
• Light army green wash. The light army green is a pale, dusty olive that takes the uneven dye absorption of linen well. Wash on a gentle cycle, skip the dryer, and line dry in the shade.
