We cut these lounge shorts wide through the thigh to let warm air move freely. The waist pulls on over an encased elastic band that sits flat without bunching. Dark gray and white checks give the light linen weave visual structure, while a narrow band of lace trims each hem.

• Elastic boxer waist. A wide elastic band is stitched directly inside the casing so it will not roll or bite into the waist. It pulls straight on and holds position without a drawstring.
• Woven gingham fabric. The linen weave feels dry and airy against warm skin. We chose a muted dark gray and white check that softens with every wash while keeping its grid definition.
• Side seam pockets. Two deep pockets sit along the side seams, cut deep enough to hold a phone without pulling down the waistband or distorting the leg line.
• Hem lace and care. Delicate lace borders each lower hem for a clean finish. Machine wash on a gentle cycle or hand wash in cool water, then line dry to preserve the lace.
