We cut these shorts with a rounded balloon leg that holds volume away from the thigh. The woven cotton blend stays light against the skin in hot weather. An elastic waistband with a matching drawstring lets you set the rise where you want it.

  • Balloon leg cut. We curve the side seams outward and gather the opening so the fabric bellies out and stands away from the leg. Air moves freely through the open shape.
  • Gathered drawstring waist. The waistband holds a wide band of elastic with an exterior tie cord. You can cinch it high on the waist or leave it loose on the hips.
  • Black and white gingham. The small checkered weave is yarn-dyed rather than printed onto the surface. It washes down soft without fading into grey.
  • Cold water care. Machine wash cold with similar colours on a gentle cycle to keep the cotton weave soft. Skip the bleach and dry flat or tumble low.
